Brandon Pfaadt - More Than 4.5 Strikeouts
Brandon Pfaadt can get overshadowed in the star-studded Diamondbacks rotation, but he’s been a quality back-of-the-rotation piece for Arizona this season. He boasts a 6-3 record with a steady 3.73 ERA, and his Pitching Ks projection of 4.5 is one to look at in your lineups today. He’s had more than that number in four of his last five appearances, averaging 5.2 strikeouts in that stretch. Plus, in four appearances against the Giants in his career, he’s struck out 19 batters, putting him right above his projection for today.
Will Benson - More Than 0.5 Total Bases
Benson has been on a tear as of late and brings a 6-game hitting streak into today’s matchup against the Pirates. His Total Bases projection is set at 0.5, one he’s gone over in all five of his last five games, including a ridiculous 9 base game yesterday against Cleveland. Benson is a batter to keep an eye on for today’s entries.
Nick Castellanos - Less Than 1.5 Hits
Castellanos has yet to make his usual noise at the plate this season, batting .278 with just four home runs on the season. Those are respectable numbers for someone in his place in the lineup, but his Hits projection today of 1.5 is one he’s gone over in just one of his last five games. Castellanos could be someone to fade in today’s matchup against the Rockies.
Zach Neto - More Than 0.5 Runs
Some players just have a knack for getting across the plate, and Zach Neto is on one of those streaks. He’s gotten home in four of his last five games, averaging 1 run per game in that stretch. Pair that with a matchup against J.T. Ginn, who holds a shaky 4.61 ERA for the Athletics this season, and Neto could be crossing the plate again today.
Ryan Pepiot - More Than 17.5 Outs
While the record might not show it, Ryan Pepiot knows how to get batters out. His Outs projection is set at 17.5 for today’s matchup against the Astros, which he’s gone over in four of his last five starts. A shaky performance against the Yankees in early May has knocked his average outs per game down to 17 per game in his last five appearances, but this projection is still one to keep an eye on for your QuickPicks entries.
