What the Pick Data Says About Week 2
There was carnage galore in Week 1 Survivor. Did you expect anything less? The Bengals knocked out roughly 28% of entries on Splash with 33% of total entries getting eliminated. Luckily for anybody that got eliminated, we’re running a $50K Guaranteed Survivor Revival starting in Week 2. A $50 entry gives you another shot at season-long glory (and $50K in cash isn’t too bad, either).
There was plenty of action in Pick’Em contests with spreads getting ruined last minute (sorry, Rams and Titans pickers) and a few blowouts that Splash pickers were all over. That being said, we’re on to Week 2. Let’s take a look at what Splash Sports users are thinking ahead of this week.
Baltimore Bounce-Back
The Ravens were an inch away from tying up and potentially winning their Week 1 match against the Chiefs, and Splash pickers are banking on a bounce-back. 32% of users are backing the Ravens in their Survivor contests to get a win over the Raiders. The Raiders are coming off a disappointing Week 1 loss against the Chargers. With shaky QB play and their once-powerful defense getting shut down, we can’t doubt pickers for backing the Ravens.
No McCaffrey, No Problem
The 49ers have one of the best offenses in the entire NFL, but their scheme and game plan might be even better. Jordan Mason stepped in for an injured Christian McCaffrey and rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown against an impressive Jets defense. The Niners spoiled the return of Aaron Rodgers and looked dominant doing it.
Splash pickers are all over the Niners in Pick’Em contests this week, banking on them continuing to roll against an inferior opponent in the Vikings. A whopping 91% of users are backing the Niners in their contests. Currently, the spread on Splash is set at -5.5, a decent number to grab for a high-powered offense like the Niners. Sam Darnold showed flashes in Week 1, but let’s be honest, the Giants stink. Anybody can light up that defense. Splash pickers are banking on him returning to poor form against the elite SF defense.
Stroud vs. Williams
It’s a battle of the “QBs of the Future” on Sunday Night Football. Caleb Williams had about as bad of an NFL debut as a quarterback can have, but hey, 1-0 is 1-0. The Bears defense looks to have returned to elite form as they led the Bears to their Week 1 win over the Titans. The Texans had a bit more of a test in Week 1, as CJ Stroud battled with the now-healthy Anthony Richardson. Stroud ended up getting the better of Richardson, but not by much.
In the primetime matchup, Splash pickers are banking on the home team to come out with a win. 10% of users are taking the Texans in their Survivor contests, which is good for the 3rd-most picked team in Survivor. The Texans have a well-established offense with great chemistry between Stroud and his receivers (no matter how much Stefon Diggs wants to mess it up) and Splash pickers are hoping they can continue to roll so they can move onto Week 3.
Primetime Picks
We have a great AFC East matchup on Thursday Night Football between the 1-0 Dolphins and the 1-0 Bills. Both teams struggled out of the gate in Week 1, but both have explosive offenses that can keep them in any game, no matter the deficit. Splash pickers are somewhat torn on this matchup, with 61% taking the Dolphins and 49% taking the Bills. We expect that to shrink closer to a 50-50 split as the week goes on. Either way, we're in for a great matchup to open Week 2.
