How to Play NFL Confidence on Splash Sports
NFL Confidence Basics
NFL Confidence on Splash Sports allows you to pick games each week and then rank them based on how confident you are in your selection. The more confident you are, the more points you earn for a correct pick! Confidence is a twist on our Pick’Em game that allows you to earn even more points for your picks. Let’s dive into the details.
Making Your Picks
Just like in Pick’Em, each week you’ll see a Pick Sheet with the list of games for that week. Depending on how your Commissioner set up your contest, this can be every NFL game of the week, or it can exclude early matchups like Thursday Night Football or the holiday matchups. Once you’ve viewed your contest details and determined which games you’re picking from and how many to pick, it’s time to pick your winners. Making selections is the same as our Pick’Em format, tap on your pick and make sure to save them.
After saving your picks, you’ll be brought to a screen to set your Confidence points. Here, you can drag your most confident picks to the top and set those questionable picks to the bottom for a lower point total. The higher the Confidence points, the more points you earn for a correct pick!
For example, if you pick the Bengals to beat the Patriots in Week 1 and that is your most confident pick, drag them all the way to the top. If the Bengals win, you earn the maximum points possible for that pick! After your Confidence points are figured out, hit save and sit back to watch the games. Note that while Confidence points indicate how many points you’ll earn for a correct pick, if your pick loses, you won’t have points deducted from your score. Only correct picks count toward your point total in a contest.
Settings to Consider
Against the Spread
Against the Spread, or ATS, adds a twist to your Pick Sheet. Instead of simply picking the winner of each matchup, you will make your selection Against the Spread. Every NFL game (and every sports matchup you can think of, for that matter) has a point spread. Let’s use the Bills and the Cardinals and their Week 1 matchup as an example. The Bills are -5.5 point favorites, and the Cardinals are +5.5 point underdogs. Any time you see the “-” it indicates the favorite, and the “+” means the underdog. The point spread is the anticipated final score between two teams. In this scenario, the Bills are expected to win the game by at least six points.
So, how does this impact making your Confidence selections? With ATS turned on, your pick not only needs to win, but they need to cover the spread. If you’re picking an underdog, they don’t necessarily need to win (though that’s always nice to not have to worry about the spread), they just need to cover! If you picked the Bills in our example, they would need to win by at least six points in order for your pick to earn points. If you picked the Cardinals, they would either need to lose by five or fewer points or win the game outright for you to get points.
Combine the ATS setting with your Confidence rankings and your correct picks could be worth some serious points. Just cover!
NCAAF
Confidence contests are also available for college football! The settings and details remain the same, rank your winners to earn as many points as possible. Keep an eye out for how many games you need to pick per week, the conferences you’ll be picking from (this can be any of the Power 5 conferences or just the Top 25 teams for a given week), and check to see if you’ll be picking Against the Spread or straight-up.
Missed Pick Penalty
In case you miss a pick (but you have in-app notifications turned on, so that would never happen!) the Missed Pick Penalty setting determines how your Confidence points are scored for that game. High to Low puts a missed pick at the top of your Confidence rankings, which could obviously be very beneficial for you or not so great in case of a loss, and Low to High puts the missed pick at the bottom of your Confidence rankings, making the risk of missing a pick not worth too much damage for a win or loss.
Picks Per Week
The last setting to consider is how many games you’ll be picking from each week. The minimum amount of games you’ll need to pick is five, but double-check the contest details page to ensure you’re picking all of the games you need to! If you’re under the expected pick count, we’ll give you a heads-up in the Pick Sheet to let you know you need to pick more games.
