NCAAB Survivor Settings

NCAAB Survivor on Splash Sports makes March even madder. With customizable settings to make each contest unique, you can enhance the sweat and keep your contest engaged throughout the tournament. Let's dive into the different settings for NCAAB Survivor contests on Splash.
Set Your Schedule
The first step in creating an NCAAB Survivor contest is to set your schedule. We've broken the tournament out into days, meaning every slate equals one day that games are being played in the tournament. The only outlier is the Elite 8, or Days 7 & 8, which are combined into one slate on Splash. The reason these slates are auto-combined is because if the two teams you are predicting to go to the championship are playing the same day, you don’t want to be forced to take one of them. You will have to pick two teams total for this slate. You can pick two on Day 7, two on Day 8, or one on each day, as long as you make two picks.
• Day 1 (Round of 64)
• Day 2 (Round of 64)
• Day 3 (Round of 32)
• Day 4 (Round of 32)
• Day 5 (Round of 16)
• Day 6 (Round of 16)
• Days 7 & 8 (Round of 8)
• Day 9 (Round of 4)
• Day 10 (Championship)
Most commissioners on Splash set their Survivor schedule to run through the whole tournament. Keep in mind that the contest needs to include at least five days.
Pick Deadline
The two options for pick deadlines in Survivor contests this March Madness are First Game of the Day and Each Game Start.
First Game of the Day means that once the first game of a given slate tips off, the pick sheet is locked. Users will need to make their picks for that slate before the first game of the day, or they're knocked out of the contest.
Each Game Start gives more flexibility to pickers in your contest. This allows users to make picks all the way up until the tip-off of the last game of a given slate. They cannot make picks for games that have already started, but they can use that final game as their selection if they missed the first batch of games for that slate.
Double Picks
Double picks are exactly as they sound. When this setting is turned on, users will need to make two picks for the identified slate. Commissioners on Splash can use the double picks setting on Days 1 through 6, which covers the Round of 64 through the Sweet 16. Remember that Days 7 & 8 (the Elite 8) are combined into one slate, making this a de facto double-pick slate.
Additional Lives
Additional lives (also known as mulligans) give users a second chance if they miss a pick. For NCAAB Survivor, commissioners can give users up to 2 additional lives, giving users 3 lives total. For example, with 2 additional lives granted, a user could miss their pick on Day 1 and on Day 2 and still be able to make picks for Day 3. If they miss after that, they're out.
Contest Revivals
Contest revivals allow your contest to keep going if all entrants are eliminated in the same slate. For example, if revivals are turned on and your contest has three entrants remaining who all lose in the Final Four slate, those entrants will be revived and able to make picks for the National Championship.
Tiebreakers
New this season on Splash for NCAAB Survivor is the tiebreakers setting. If multiple users survive the entire contest or the contest ends with multiple users being eliminated in the same round, you can use the tiebreaker setting to determine a winner. The tiebreaker is the total seed points of each entry. The riskier their picks, the better chance they have of winning the tiebreaker. For example, if I picked the following teams for each day in last year’s tournament my tiebreaker seed total would be 52.
• Day 1 (Round of 64): Michigan State, 9 seed
• Day 2 (Round of 64): Northwestern, 9 seed
• Day 3 (Round of 32): Gonzaga, 5 seed
• Day 4 (Round of 32): San Diego State, 5 seed
• Day 5 (Round of 16): Illinois, 3 seed
• Day 6 (Round of 16): Duke, 4 seed
• Days 7&8 (Round of 8): Alabama, 4 seed & Purdue 1 seed
• Day 9 (Round of 4): NC State, 11 seed
• Day 10 (Championship): UConn, 1 seed
If tiebreakers are enabled, all surviving entries will have their tiebreaker seed total displayed next to each entry. Entries will be ranked by which entry has the highest surviving tiebreaker total.
