What the Pick Data Says About Week 12
The 1972 Miami Dolphins can breathe, their record will go untouched for another year. The Bills took down their new rivals and ended the Chiefs’ undefeated season bid while establishing themselves as true Super Bowl contenders in Week 11. Divisional matchups galore await in Week 12, as the playoff picture will continue to shape itself up as teams fight for their division crowns. Between QuickPicks entries, the few still alive in Survivor, and weekly Pick’Em contests, plenty of picks are to be made. Let’s dive into where the public is leaning in their Week 12 contests.
QuickPicks Trends
Thursday Night Football gives us a classic AFC North matchup between the Steelers and the Browns. Even with the record disparity, these teams always play each other close. While it might not be an offensive shootout, there are plenty of trends to keep an eye on when making your QuickPick entries for TNF. One projection to consider with the Steelers is Russell Wilson’s passing yards projection. The projection is set at 176.5, which Russ has shattered in all four of his starts with the Steelers. He’s yet to face up against Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, and the Browns defense, but the numbers don’t lie.
On Cleveland’s side of the ball, Cedric Tillman is someone to keep an eye on. He arguably benefitted the most from Jameis Winston taking the reins as Cleveland’s QB, as he’s notched over 45 receiving yards in his last four games. His receiving yards projection is set at 43.5, and based on his last four games, taking more could be a good idea.
Fade the Panthers
Clearly, no Splash users are on TikTok. The most popular Survivor pick of the week is the Chiefs to take down the Panthers, with 22% of users backing Kansas City. The internet wants to make you believe that Bryce Young will singlehandedly lead the Panthers to a historic upset over the Chiefs, and while it’s fun to think about, it probably won’t happen. The Chiefs are coming off their first loss of the season against the Bills, and will likely look to step back on the gas and make a statement against the Panthers. Fade Mahomes at your own risk.
Historic Rivalry
There’s just something about a 49ers and Packers matchup that feels historic. Two classic teams, great uniforms, and talent across both sides of the ball always makes for an exciting game between these teams. Splash users are torn on actually picking this game, with 57% of picks on the Packers at home compared to 43% of users on the 49ers. The Packers are coming off a nailbiter of a win that took a blocked field goal to seal the deal, while the 49ers are coming off a bad loss at home against the Seahawks. A 2.5-point spread makes this game a difficult one to pick, but Splash users are leaning toward the home team to cover.
Divisional Survivor Matchups
One of the cardinal rules of Survivor is to stay away from divisional matchups as much as you possibly can. While it gets tougher and tougher to follow this rule as the season progresses, it’s shocking to see how many divisional games are getting a high volume of picks this week. The Texans have 21% of the picks against the Titans, the Dolphins are getting 15% of Survivor picks against the Patriots, the Commanders have 13% of pickers backing them against the Cowboys, and the list goes on. We won’t come back next week and say we told you so if one of these divisional favorites ends up losing, but consider this your warning.
