Tier Picks For NFL Week 2
Tier 1
- Jalen Hurts, QB PHI
- Josh Allen, QB BUF
- Patrick Mahomes, QB KC
- Justin Fields, QB TB
- Justin Jefferson, WR PHI
- Joe Burrow, QB CIN
- Lamar Jackson, QB BAL
- Ja’Marr Chase, WR CIN
- Trevor Lawrence, QB JAC
Pick: Josh Allen, QB BUF - We all saw the disaster that was Week 1 for Josh Allen but he was up against a really tough New York Jets defense which finished with three interceptions and a fumble recovery. In Week 2 the Bills are home and welcome a Raiders team that will be playing on the road for the second straight week. Things should be much easier for Allen in this spot and that should make him the top pick of Tier 1.
Tier 2
- Christian McCaffrey, RB SF
- Dak Prescott, QB DAL
- Deshaun Watson, QB CLE
- Austin Ekeler, RB LAC
- Stefon Diggs, WR BUF
- Kirk Cousins, QB MIN
- Tyreek Hill, WR MIA
- Daniel Jones, QB NYG
- Tua Tagovailoa, QB MIA
- Russell Wilson, QB DEN
Pick: Christian McCaffrey, RB SF - The most dynamic running back in football had his talents on display in Week 1 against the Steelers, carrying the ball 22 times for 152 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 17 yards. The 49ers face a Rams defense in Week 2 that struggled against Kenneth Walker in their Week 1 matchup against the Seahawks.
Tier 3
- AJ Brown, WR PHI
- Anthony Richardson, QB IND
- Davante Adams, WR LV
- Ceedee Lamb, WR NYJ
- Saquon Barkley, RB NYG
- Jared Goff, QB DET
- Geno Smith, QB SEA
- Aaron Rodgers, QB NYJ
- Matthew Stafford, QB LAR
- Jordan Love, QB GB
Pick: Geno Smith, QB SEA - We saw the Seahawks face the Lions last season and the game ended with 93 total points on the board. After a lackluster Week 1 I look for Smith to go off against this questionable Lions defense as he connects with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Tier 4
- Bryce Young, QB CAR
- Travis Kelce, TE KC
- Kenny Pickett, QB PIT
- CJ Stroud, QB HOU
- Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR DET
- Derek Carr, QB NO
- Sam Howell, QB WAS
- Nick Chubb, RB CLE
- DeVonta Smith, WR PHI
- Breece Hall, RB NYJ
Pick: Amon-Ra St.Brown, WR DET - If Travis Kelce is active then I’d likely lean here as it won’t be often that Kelce is a Tier 4 player but assuming he remains out of the lineup for the Chiefs we are locking in Amon-Ra St. Brown. We saw Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua torch the Seahawks secondary for over 100-yards each in Week 1 while St.Brown had a big game against the Chiefs. As I mentioned, the last time these two teams played the game finished with 93 points on the board.
Tier 5
- Mac Jones, QB NE
- Bijan Robinson, RB ATL
- Ryan Tannehill, QB TEN
- Tony Pollard, RB NYJ
- Garrett Wilson, WR DAL
- Tee Higgins, WR CIN
- Calvin Ridley, WR JAC
- Desmond Ridder, QB ATL
- Jimmy Garoppolo, QB LV
- Chris Olave, WR NO
Pick: Calvin Ridley, WR JAC - Calvin Ridley was in Tier 6 last week and I said that was going to be a mistake and sure enough he exploded in his Week 1 matchup against the Colts, finishing with eight catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. In Week 2 he draws a matchup against the Chiefs who allowed four catches for 80 yards to Josh Reynolds and six catches for 71 yards and a touchdown to Amon-Ra St. Brown in Week 1. No offense to those two but if they can do that against the Chiefs then Calvin Ridley should be in for another 100+ yard and one-plus touchdown performance.
Tier 6
- Keenan Allen, WR LAC
- Travis Etienne, RB JAC
- Baker Mayfield, QB TB
- Jahmyr Gibbs, RB DET
- Derrick Henry, RB TEN
- Josh Jacobs, RB LV
- Brandon Aiyuk, WR SF
- Amari Cooper, WR CLE
- DJ Moore, WR CHI
- Michael Pittman, WR IND
Pick: Derrick Henry, RB TEN - The Chargers run defense is not very good and we have the Titans at home here. Too much is being made of the fact that rookie Tajae Spears saw more snaps than Derrick Henry in my opinion. He has elite upside in this matchup and could be poised to dominate this game on the ground for the Titans offense.
