Tier Picks For NFL Week 2
Tier 1
- Josh Allen, BUF
- Patrick Mahomes, KC
- Jalen Hurts, PHI
- Joe Burrow, CIN
- Lamar Jackson, BAL
- Justin Fields, CHI
- Ja’Marr Chase, CIN
- Justin Jefferson, MIN
- Trevor Lawrence, JAC
- Tyreek Hill, MIA
Pick: Justin Jefferson, WR MIN - My initial gut reaction to this tier was to plug in Patrick Mahomes who has an elite matchup against the Bears in Week 3 but with this scoring format only awarding 4-points per passing touchdown I have to pivot to Justin Jefferson who has been unbelievable to begin the season and now faces a Chargers secondary that allowed Tyreek Hill to go over 200-yards receiving in Week 1.
Tier 2
- Stefon Diggs, BUF
- Tua Tagovailoa, MIA
- Dak Prescott, DAL
- Davante Adams, LV
- Anthony Richardson, IND
- Jared Goff, DET
- Cooper Kupp, LAR
- Russell Wilson, DEN
- Kirk Cousins, MIN
- Travis Kelce, KC
Pick: Travis Kelce, TE KC - Since I couldn’t use Mahomes in Tier 1 why not take his top receiving threat in Tier 2? We saw Kelce return to the Chiefs lineup in Week 2 and score a touchdown in his season debut. He should be heavily targeted and be a threat for multiple touchdowns this week against a putrid Chicago Bears defense.
Tier 3
- AJ Brown, PHI
- Breece Hall, NYJ
- Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET
- Sam Howell, WAS
- Jordan Love, GB
- Ceedee Lamb, DAL
- Matthew Stafford, LAR
- CJ Stroud, HOU
- Brian Robinson, RB ATL
- Bryce Young, CAR
Pick: Bijan Robinson, RB ATL - This one here feels like a free square. Robinson has been as advertised over the first two weeks of the season, making immediate impacts in both the running and passing game for the Atlanta Falcons. In Week 3 he faces a Lions defense that was just lit up by the Seahawks and will be without their top safety in C. J. Gardner-Johnson who could have caused issues for Robinson this week.
Tier 4
- Mac Jones, NE
- Kenny Pickett, PIT
- Jimmy Garoppolo, LV
- Ryan Tannehill, TEN
- Jaylen Waddle, MIA
- Jonathan Taylor, IND
- Derek Carr, NO
- Desmond Ridder, ATL
- Kyler Murray, ARI
- Jahmyr Gibbs, DET
Pick: Jahmyr Gibbs, RB DET - Pretty obvious selection for me here. David Montgomery is out and while the team brought in Zonovan Knight and gave carries to Craig Reynolds I still expect some pretty heavy involvement here in Week 3 out of the Lions first round pick as he runs up against Bijan Robinson which will certainly have an interesting narrative throughout the game with the Lions essentially passing on Robinson to trade back a few picks and take Gibbs.
Tier 5
- Josh Jacobs, LV
- Tee Higgins, CIN
- Devonta Smith, PHI
- Derrick Henry, TEN
- Michael Pittman, IND
- Rhamondre Stevenson, NE
- Tony Pollard, DAL
- Calvin Ridley, JAC
- D.J. Moore, CHI
- Garrett Wilson, NYJ
Pick: Calvin Ridley, WR JAC - Big time let down performance from Ridley in Week 2 so lets run it back in Week 3 with the Jags facing off against the Houston Texans. Houston does not have a great defense and after losing at home to the Chiefs last week I look for the Jaguars to put a stamp on this one.
Tier 6
- Terry McLaurin, WAS
- Drake London, ATL
- Travis Etienne Jr., JAC
- Chris Olave, NO
- James Conner, ARI
- Jerry Jeudy, DEN
- Najee Harris, PIT
- Javonte Williams, DEN
- D’Andre Swift, PHI
- Nico Collins, HOU
Pick: Javonte Williams, DEN - In theory you should be able to run on this Miami Dolphins defense. In Week 1 we saw BOTH Austin Ekeler and Joshua Kelley have big games against this Dolphins defense. In Week 2 the Patriots offensive line was in shambles and the team couldn’t get much going. As for Williams, he continues to look better. His snap remained consistent at 45% but we’ve been told that Williams will see his role expand as the season moves along. Let’s see if he can get it going against this Miami defense.
