What the Pick Data Says About the Conference Championships
We’re down to four. Familiar playoff faces Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts are joined by the new kid on the block Jayden Daniels in what should be an electric Championship weekend in the NFL. Let’s dive into where the public is leaning in their playoff contests.
QuickPicks Trends
The Eagles have found ways to win football games without superstar numbers coming from their quarterback. It’s not difficult to see why when you have the best running back in football and one of the best defenses in the league, but it’s still impressive. Jalen Hurts’ passing projection for the NFC Championship game is set at 179.5 yards, which he’s gone over just once in his last five games when he threw for 290 yards against the Steelers in early December. Some will say he’s due, others will say the Eagles will lean on the run game again, but to keep up with the high-powered Commanders offense, Hurts might need to throw the ball more than he has been of late.
In the AFC Championship, all eyes will be on Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, but we’ve got our eyes on Mack Hollins. His receiving yards projection is set at 14.5 yards, which he’s gone over in four of his last five games. The only game he hasn’t hit more than 14.5 yards was the Bills AFC Divisonal round matchup where he managed to get 12 receiving yards. He’s shown he can be a solid safety valve for Josh Allen and should get some looks if the Chiefs defense chooses to focus on Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and the rushing attack of James Cook.
AFC Championship
It’s Mahomes vs. Allen again in the playoffs, and this time, a trip to the Super Bowl is on the line. As they often are, the Chiefs are playing at home in Arrowhead, one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. The Chiefs are currently 1.5 point favorites heading into Sunday. The Splash public loves potential MVP Josh Allen and the Bills to cover 1.5 as underdogs (and potentially win), with 63% of users choosing Buffalo in their Pick’Em contests. We’ve seen this movie before, and usually, it ends with a Chiefs victory. Pick wisely.
NFC Championship
If you told any football fan in the beginning of the season that two NFC East teams would be playing in the NFC Championship with a Super Bowl berth on the line, almost any of them (located outside the DMV) woud have said “It’s finally the Cowboys’ year!” Jayden Daniels and the Commanders have shocked the NFL world with their playoff run, as the rookie has looked like a 10-year vet all season long. Their offense is right up there with the best in the NFL, and the defense, while it has its holes, has shown they can make a stand when they need to. Saquon Barkley and the Eagles offense is a different beast, but we’re expecting fireworks from both offenses. Splash pickers are loving the underdog story of Washington in their Pick’Em contests, with 55% of users backing the Commanders to cover the 6.5 point spread.
