What the Pick Data Says About Week 13
Get the Turduckens in the oven, find a comfortable spot on the couch, and crack open your beverage of choice, because there’s a full slate of Thanksgiving and Black Friday football to look forward to this week. Are the games going to be good? It doesn’t look like it, but we’ll be watching anyway. There are picks and projections to be made all week long, so let's dive into where the public is leaning in their special Turkey Day Week 13 contests.
QuickPicks Trends
The Thanksgiving slate of games brings us some classic rivalries and a matchup of explosive offenses in the nightcap. In the opening matchup between the Lions and Bears, D’Andre Swift’s rushing attempts projection stands out as something to watch. His projection is currently at 12.5 rushing attempts, which he’s surpassed in his last five games. The Bears have made more of an effort to feed Swift since firing their former OC Shane Waldron in an attempt to balance the offense and ease the pressure on Caleb Williams.
The midday game (coined as the “America’s Nap” game) between the Cowboys and Giants is a great rivalry on paper, but with the state of these two franchises, we don’t blame you if you decide to read the box score on this one. Rico Dowdle’s longest reception projection of 9.5 yards has hit in 3 of the last five Cowboys games and could be a good option for a QuickPicks entry on Thanksgiving.
The nightcap between the Dolphins and Packers should be the most entertaining game of the day, and there are plenty of projections to choose from. Tua Tagovailoa has looked like his old self as of late, and the stats reflect that. His passing completions projection of 22.5 has hit in four of his last five games, and with a high-scoring game likely in store, the Dolphins should be throwing the ball to keep up with the Packers offense.
Thankful for Survivor
We’ll stay on the Thanksgiving games for Survivor picks, as the Cowboys (yes, the Cowboys) are the most popular Survivor pick of the week, with 15% of users taking them to beat their divisional rivals. The Giants franchise is a mess. Daniel Jones has been released, their star WR Malik Nabers is frustrated with his role in the offense, and the defense can’t stop anybody. Things have to be really, really bad to consider taking the Cowboys as they are also in bad shape, but that’s where we are at this point in the NFL season. Close the shades on Thursday, Jerry.
Burrow vs. Wilson
Divisional matchups are starting to heat up as we get later in the NFL season, and we’ve already seen some classic battles in the AFC North. The Bengals and Steelers will meet for the first time all season this week, and even if their record doesn’t reflect it, Joe Burrow and the Bengals can beat any team in the league on their best day. The Bengals are currently -2.5 point favorites at home against Pittsburgh, and Splash pickers are leaning in their favor. 58% of the picks are on the Bengals to cover against the Steelers, but never count out Russell Wilson and the Steelers defense.
