What the Pick Data Says About Week 4

Carnage. Pure, pure carnage. Heading into Week 4, nearly 92% of total Survivor entries on Splash Sports have been eliminated. This has been one of the worst Survivor seasons in HISTORY. If you’re one of the unfortunate 92% that have been eliminated, we have plenty of revival contests live on the Splash Sports app to get you back on track. With that said, let’s take a look at where the public is leaning in their Survivor and Pick’Em contests.

Fade the Patriots

Most Survivor pickers used the “fade the Patriots” strategy in Week 1, and let’s just say that didn’t exactly pan out. So why not do it again? Nothing could go wrong! Right? Right?! Splash pickers are dipping back into the well in Week 4, with nearly 28% of pickers taking San Francisco in their Survivor contests. The 49ers are beyond banged up, with CMC pulling a Kobe Bryant and heading to Germany to visit a specialist for his Achilles, Deebo Samuel’s Week 4 status up in the air, Trent Williams suffering an injury in Week 3, and standout DT Javon Hargrave expected to miss the entire season with a partially torn triceps. Oh, and their quarterback Brock Purdy is day-to-day with a back injury. Even with the laundry list of injuries, Splash pickers are putting their faith in the Niners to beat a still-inferior Patriots team. As we said, nothing could go wrong.

AFC West Showdown

Jim Harbaugh had his Chargers playing his patented ‘Harbaugh Ball’ in the first two weeks of the season, dominating on the ground and playing tough defense. It came to a halt in Week 3 with their star QB Justin Herbert playing through an ankle sprain and eventually getting knocked out of the game, leaving Taylor Heinecke to try and clean up the mess in an eventual loss to the Steelers. Things won’t get any easier in Week 4 with Herbert’s status up in the air as the Chargers host the 3-0 Chiefs. The Chiefs are currently -7.5 favorites in Pick’Em contests on Splash, and pickers are banking on the Chiefs to cover that touchdown+ number. 81% of pickers are backing the Chiefs this week, and we don’t blame them. Patrick Mahomes is 8-2 against the Chargers in his career, and when you add that stat to the current state of the Chargers offense, it’s easy to see why pickers are rolling with the Chiefs. 

The Trevor Lawrence Experience

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has shown flashes early in his career of being the ‘generational’ (that term is thrown around way too loosely) talent that we saw at Clemson, but the wheels are falling off. Lawrence and the Jags are 0-3 after taking a beatdown on Monday Night Football, and Lawrence, simply put, has been bad this season. Splash pickers are fading the Jaguars at all costs against their divisional rival Houston, with just 0.01% of pickers riding with them in Survivor. And we wouldn’t be surprised if a majority of those pickers are in the state of Florida. 

AFC Championship Preview?

Arguably the best matchup of Week 4 comes on Sunday Night Football with the Bills heading to Baltimore to battle Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. The Ravens barely held off a Cowboys comeback in Week 3, while the Bills stomped the lowly Jaguars. Even with the differing results in Week 3, Splash pickers are torn on the Week 4 clash. 51% of Splash pickers are backing the Bills to cover +1.5 compared to 49% riding with the Ravens at home. Josh Allen looks like a true MVP favorite (as long as he can fend off the Sam Darnold resurgence) and weapons be damned, he knows how to get the ball to the right people and make plays with his feet to carve up any defense. The Bills will face their toughest test this season as they head into a hostile environment that could be a preview of this year’s AFC Championship. It would be wise to keep an eye on the spread throughout the week before it locks Thursday at noon EST so you get the best number in your Pick’Em contests.
