What the Pick Data Says About Week 6
At this point, we don’t blame you. We’re ready to call this the most difficult Survivor season in NFL history. The mess continued in Week 5 as a staggering 59% of entries got eliminated thanks to the Seahawks and 49ers going down, with those two teams alone making up 51% of the eliminated entries. The first five weeks of the season have shown that it’s nearly impossible to pick a single winner every week, let alone succeed in a multi-pick Pick’Em contest. But that’s not going to stop any of you from trying! Let’s get into where the public is leaning ahead of Week 6.
Deshaun Disaster
All hope is officially lost in Cleveland. Browns fans may be used to that feeling, but few times have they entered a season with this much hope, only for things to turn into a complete disaster. Deshaun Watson looks like a shell of his former self, their once-mighty offensive line is among the worst in the league, and Myles Garrett and Co. on the defensive end have been unable to keep their offense in games. Splash pickers have lost all faith in Cleveland, both in Survivor and Pick’Em. Their Week 6 opponent Philadelphia is fresh off a bye and expecting their top receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith back in action. The Eagles are getting 25% of Survivor picks in Week 6, currently the most-picked team of the week.
The Present vs. The Future
Two-time MVP Lamar Jackson and rising star Jayden Daniels are set to clash for the first time in Week 6 as a battle of the present versus the future of the NFL awaits. Daniels has the Commanders at a surprising 4-1 to start the season, while Lamar and the Ravens are sitting atop the AFC North at 3-2. The Ravens are -6.5 in Pick’Em contests on Splash, and pickers are leaning towards Baltimore at home. 62% of Splash pickers are backing the Ravens in their contests, signaling that the rookie might have to wait for his first signature win over an MVP-caliber quarterback.
Go Pack Go?
The Packers are coming off a shaky Week 5 win over the Rams, beating the depleted Rams by 5 points in a game that easily could have gone the other way. Their Week 6 opponent, the Cardinals, is fresh off an upset win against the 49ers on the road. Even given both team’s performances last week, Splash pickers are confident that the Packers will pull off a home win in Week 6. In Survivor contests, the Packers are getting 11% of the picks, good for 3rd-most this week.
(No) New Coach Bump
Week 6 concludes with an AFC East clash between the Jets and Bills. The Jets have a new (interim) head coach in Jeff Ulbrich after parting ways with Robert Saleh on Tuesday. Normally, we’d give these teams an interim head coach bump. There’s nothing like a fresh voice in the locker room to rile up the team and turn things around, right? Splash pickers aren’t buying it with this Jets team. The Bills, on the road, as -2.5 point favorites, are getting 76% of the picks on Splash in Pick’Em contests. The public has lost all faith in Aaron Rodgers, Nathaniel Hackett, and the entire Jets organization.
