What the Pick Data Says About Week 8
The public is starting to figure it out! Only 17% of Survivor entries were eliminated in Week 7 thanks to the most popular picks in the Commanders and Bills rolling over their opponents. On paper, there are some ‘easy’ selections in Week 8, but as we’ve learned through the first portion of the season, nothing comes easy in the NFL. Let’s take a look at where the public is leaning in their Survivor and Pick’Em contests.
Kings of the North
The Detroit Lions are coming off an impressive win against their NFC North rival Minnesota to put them on top of their incredibly competitive division. They get a bit of a break in Week 8, heading back home to Detroit to host the Titans, who, frankly, are a bad football team. Splash pickers are overwhelmingly picking in Detroit’s direction, with 28% of Survivor picks on the Lions in Week 8. That’s over 10% more than the second most-picked team, the Broncos. We’ll leave this with everyone, maybe it’s a let-down spot after an emotional win? Maybe?
A Historic Matchup
The 49ers and Cowboys meet in Week 8 in a matchup of two of the most storied franchises in the NFL. Both teams have vastly underperformed expectations this season. On the Niners side, it’s mainly due to injuries. We’re still not sure if Christian McCaffrey is back from his Germany trip to rehab his Achilles, Deebo Samuel was recently hospitalized due to an illness, and it looks like Brandon Aiyuk could be out for the season. Brock Purdy can’t do everything himself! On the Cowboys side, there really aren’t any excuses. They came into this season with basically the same roster as last season, hoping to re-capture the magic of their regular season and improve on a bad playoff performance, but things haven’t clicked for Dak and the Boys. The 49ers have won their last three matchups against the Cowboys, and Splash pickers are banking on them making it four in a row. 69% of users are taking them to beat the Cowboys in their Pick’Em contests.
Let Russ Cook
Mr. Unlimited is back. Russell Wilson, against all odds, when literally nobody believed in him, even after overcoming a horrendous first quarter of football, looks like he’s more than capable of leading a good offense again. The Steelers are coming off a beatdown of the Jets on Sunday Night Football and get rewarded with another primetime game, this time on Monday Night Football against the Giants. Splash pickers are believers in the Russ resurgence, with 10% of pickers using them in Survivor contests this week. Let Russ Cook!
#1 vs. #2
Maybe. The top two overall picks in the NFL Draft are set to meet for the first time in their careers as the Bears take on the Commanders. Jayden Daniels’ status is up in the air due to a rib injury he sustained last week, but that’s not stopping Splash pickers from taking the Commanders. 58% of pickers are backing the Commanders, which could be subject to change based on Jayden Daniels’ status.
