What’s Next at Splash Sports: Shaking the Football Blues
It took an extra 15 minutes and plenty of drama, but the Kansas City Chiefs are the first back-to-back Super Bowl champions in two decades. Patrick Mahomes has his third ring before the age of 29. Andy Reid became one of five coaches ever to secure at least three NFL championships in their career. Also, Taylor Swift.
Months of anticipation built to Sunday’s culmination of the football year. Three preseason preliminaries, 18 rounds of regular season, and a few weeks of playoffs all closed this past weekend.
We are now in the throes of a crisis that affects millions of Americans each year: the loss of football season. No more touchdowns, no more interceptions, and no more sacks to celebrate. You have seven months to kill.
So, what’s next? There has to be something more. Life cannot end in mid-February.
No matter how hopeless it all may seem right now, it isn’t - Splash salutes sports all year round. Football may be gone until the fall, but other athletic disciplines are available to fill the void. Over the next couple of months, Splash has a variety of contests that will keep you on the edge of your seat and offer ample opportunities to line your pockets. Let’s check them out.
Golf One and Done with New In-Season Payouts
Golf One and Done is not new to Splash. We have hosted these contests for months, and we have no plans of slowing down. Nearly every week for the foreseeable future, a new One and Done contest will be launched, keeping the competition going. As always, commissioners can continue to make their own contests that operate on whatever timeline they choose. Customization is key at Splash.
What is new, though, is in-season payouts. With this new feature, there are even more ways to win. In-season payouts separate a larger contest into smaller segments, and the best performers in those segments enjoy cash prizes for their specific success. This structure allows players more chances to win without detracting from the bigger picture. The season-long prizes in contests with in-season payouts remain unaffected.
It’s simple to play. Select one golfer for each tournament, and ride that golfer all the way to victory. Golfers earn their believers points by amassing Dollar Winnings, and the contest entries with the most points wins. The only catch is that once you select a golfer for one tournament, you cannot use them again for the rest of the contest. Choose wisely.
Golf Majors Tiers
In the past, commissioners have been limited to their contests including only one tournament at a time. But Splash knows that golf fans don’t like to be limited. We are all about customization and putting the power of sports, community, and competition in your hands. So, we put our heads together to create a solution. That led to a new competition that we will soon be launching: Golf Major Tiers.
Golf Majors Tiers will be a multi-slate tiers contest that commissioners can run that will include five events: the Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, the British Open, and The PLAYERS Championship. With this new format, Splash users can compete in contests that span the biggest tournaments that the links have on display and keep the competition rolling throughout the whole golf year.
Further details will be released in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. While you wait, a Golf Majors One & Done that includes the five tournaments listed above is now live!
But rest assured, Splash masses - golf is about to take on a new look in 2024.
March Madness
It’s one of the marquee events on the American sports calendar. It owns an entire month. So, you know we have to bring something big for March Madness, right?
The filling out of brackets is an annual tradition among college basketball fanatics, sports lovers, and the uninitiated alike. Millions of people enter into bracket contests with friends, family, and co-workers and enjoy the cultural phenomenon that is March Madness.
Splash is introducing a new way to experience the tournament that enhances the thrill of filling out a bracket. This March, we're hosting a $100K Survivor Madness contest for the NCAA tournament in which players will make one pick on each day of the tournament, hitching their wagons to one outfit in the single-elimination sensation. With 10 total days of action, that means you will need 10 correct picks to bring home the bacon, assuming it takes that long to be the last person standing.
In typical Survivor fashion, once you have used a team, you can’t choose them again. That means weighing your options in the early rounds. Do you go for a No. 1 seed and almost assuredly survive the day but lose that option later, or do you go a riskier route with a lower seed to save the big boys for the final stages of the contest? Play it right, and your bracket won’t have a monopoly on making you money this March.
When filling out your paper bracket at home or in the office, an easy way to separate your Survivor picks is by writing them in or highlighting them with a different color. That’s how you can remember which matchups hold the most meaning to you while also showing off your Splash Survivor status.
March Madness Survivor will be open for commissioners to create their own contests as well. Splash doesn’t expect or want you to leave your brackets behind. That ritual is part of what makes the early spring special. Our goal is to make March even madder.
